First They Killed My Father

First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers by Loung Ung

My rating:

4 stars—I really liked it.

My Thoughts:

What a beautifully told, heartbreaking memoir. These are the types of memoirs that make you really take notice of the blessings in your own life. Hard to even imagine this happening to you. So many people choose to forget that these things happen (are happening) to human beings around the world. I try to make it an effort to never forget.

A definite recommend for the memoir reader.

Description from Goodreads.com:

“Chronicles the brutality of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, from the author's forced ''evacuation'' of Phnom Penh in 1975 to her family's subsequent movements from town to town and eventual separation.”
