Cutting Loose

Cutting Loose by Susan Anderson

Amazon Description:

“Jane thinks nothing can make her lose her cool. But the princess of propriety blows a gasket the night she meets the contractor restoring the Wolcott mansion. Devlin Kavanagh's rugged sex appeal may buckle her knees, but the man is out of control! Jane had to deal with theatrics growing up—she won't tolerate them in someone hired to work on the house she and her two best friends have inherited. Dev could renovate the mansion in his sleep. But ever since the prissy owner spotted him jet-lagged and hit hard by a couple of welcome-home drinks, she's been on his case. Yet there's something about her. Jane hides behind conservative clothes and a frosty manner, but her seductive blue eyes and leopard-print heels hint at a woman just dying to cut loose!”

My Thoughts:
Good chemistry between the characters. This was a mindless, happy ending to pass the time!

Until There Was You

Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins

Amazon Description:

“Posey Osterhagen can't complain. She owns a successful architectural salvaging company, she's surrounded by her lovable, if off-center, family and she has a boyfriend—sort of. Still, something's missing. Something tall, brooding and criminally good-looking…something like Liam Murphy. When Posey was sixteen, the bad boy of Bellsford, New Hampshire, broke her heart. But now he's back, sending Posey's traitorous schoolgirl heart into overdrive once again. She should be giving him a wide berth, but it seems fate has other ideas….”

My Thoughts:

Kristan Higgins is such a treat. I love that she can build such emotion and that I can always find a piece of myself in her characters. I loved this one. Liam is a realistic character; a single Dad with a teenage daughter. Cordelia is quirky and unconventional. Delightful!

Mary, Mary

Mary, Mary by James Patterson

This is the next installment of Patterson's Alex Cross series. Finally...I am enjoying this series again. The main issue for me has been Christine's character. In this book she gains back some of her previous traits. I still don't feel like she is quite right, though. It's hard to describe, but the characters in this series change in each book, like they are different characters...but still the supposed to be the same. I have heard that Patterson writes with different partners. Maybe that is the issue!

Anyway...good suspense in this one. I will continue the series.

Purity in Death

Purity in Death by J.D. Robb

I am still enjoying this series. Eve and Roarke are well-developed, interesting characters. Each installment brings something new, something that keeps me engaged.  The suspense is high and, so far, no repetition.

Suspense readers...check out this series if you haven't had a chance.

The Priest

The Priest by Gerard O’Donovan

This is a typical serial killer/who-done-it. There was decent suspense. I didn’t fall in love with the characters or the plot, but it kept me interested.

Holy War

Holy War: The Crusades and Their Impact on Today’s World by Karen Armstrong

I love to read religious philosophy, so I expected to love this book. But…it is too overwhelming. Armstrong tries to cover too much ground. I also didn’t feel that she always portrayed facts, I could sense some bias.

I read it, enjoyed parts, but wouldn’t necessarily recommend it.
