Hot Zone by Catherine Mann

Amanda is trapped in a building collapse with her nephew. Hugh, one of the rescuers, saves her. The beginning (the rescue) was really good. I was intrigued by the characters. However, then the story takes a turn into a black market kidnapping scheme. Here I got a little bored. Several plots start competing for attention. It gets more than a bit ridiculous.

Overall, a decent read.

Grrrrrr….this is more of a rant, than a review. I won’t even tell you the plot of the book, because that is beside the point of this post. This type of book is the primary reason that I hate to download “free” kindle romances. This is not even a book!!! This is a portion of a book that then ends and asks you to buy the next, then the next, then the next. Authors are selling their books by the chapter, almost. This leads me to not even consider buying the next installment, even though I was mildly curious what would happen next. Either give the whole book away or charge for a full book!

My Thoughts:

Another “Fifty Shade-ish” read. This one was not too bad! I think the author has some promise. Belmont’s “secret,” that is eluded to in the blurb above, is a little creepy. But this killed a lazy afternoon for me.

There is this blurb…”Mature audiences only. Sex scenes are frequent and written in detail, using graphic and direct language.” And this blurb is true.

This is the third and final book in Shalvis’s Lucky Harbor series. I loved it! Chloe is my favorite of the sisters. Very emotional and sweet…
