Monday Recommendations

Monday Recommendation List

Random list of 10 books Monday! I have read and enjoyed each of these enough to flag for a potential personal library purchase.

Be bold and just choose randomly, stick to your normal genre...or step outside of your normal
reading zone and try something you usually wouldn’t. You can look up the descriptions at Amazon.com, or search my blog for old posts by entering the title in the little search box in the top left-hand corner and clicking the magnifying glass.

This week-- 10 recommendations (in no particular order):

  1. Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase
  2. Van Gogh: The Life by Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith
  3. The China Study by Colin Campbell
  4. The Paris Wife  by Paula McLain
  5. Ashes to Ashes  by Tami Hoag

Not Quite a Lady

Not Quite a Lady by Loretta Chase
I enjoy Loretta Chase’s writing style. This isn’t her best romance, but I still liked it. The problem was in the plot. I felt that there were too many competing plots in this one. Because of that I got a bit lost and then a bit bored.

But Chase is always a good bet for a quick, happy ending read!

Mr. Impossible

Mr. Impossible by Loretta Chase

I am afraid I might be outgrowing my love of the historical romance. I used to be able to pick up any book in this genre and be enthralled. Lately, my standards seem to have grown and I have a hard time staying interested. The characters have to be complex and the plot realistic.

Loretta Chase has been a favorite of mine in this genre. However, I didn't find this particular book very interesting or emotionally engaging.

Lord of Scoundrels

Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase

Description from amazon:
Tough minded Jessica Trent's sole intention is to free her nitwit brother from the destructive influence of Sebastian Ballister, the notorious Marquess of Daine. She never expects to desire the arrogant, amoral cad. And When Daine's reciprocal passion places them in a scandalously compromising, and public, position, Jessica is left with no choice but to seek satisfaction... Damn the minx for tempting him, kissing him...and then for forcing him to salvage reputation! Lord Daine can't wait to put the infuriating bluestocking in her place -- and in some amorous position. And if this means marriage, so be it -- though Sebastian is less than certain he can continue to remain aloof...and steal his heart to the sensuous, head strong lady's considerable charms.”

My thoughts:
Another romance with a “bad boy” character. Heaven knows I love the taming of the bad boy!! This book has it all—chemistry, tension, sensuality, sexiness, humor and strong emotion. A must read for the romance lover!
