Black Dagger Brotherhood

Black Dagger Brotherhood

Yes…I’ve started reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series all over again…I just love the character development in this series.

Ward keeps me reading, I’m so wrapped up in these characters she has created!

Dark Lover is the first in the series!

The King

The King by J.R. Ward

If you are a regular reader of my book reviews you know that I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It is so hard for me to wait for the next installment! This book brings it back to Wrath and Beth—the original couple. I get so wrapped up in these characters!

One tiny note of unhappiness--I do agree with some critics that the number of characters is sometimes too much. Each book introduces new characters and the old characters get lost in the shuffle. Ward builds characters up and then they seem to disappear and their lack of presence is noticeable. Since maybe book 5 this has really bothered me. That continued here. Loved most of it, but am tired of some of the side things that have been dragging on (Xcor and Layla especially). This book sets up the next book…which I like, but it seemed to take over the plot more this time. As the series grows it is harder to be as enraptured.

Seriously though—read this series! Start at the beginning with Dark Lover.

Lover At Last

Lover At Last by J.R. Ward

Next in the Black Dagger Brotherhood installment for me was Blay and Quinn’s story. I am still engrossed in the series and this story was amazingly hot. I thought Ward might treat this story with kid gloves, as there are 2 male characters in love, but she didn’t…and I loved it. Ward is able to create incredibly moving emotion.

One issue with this series…there are getting to be so many characters that it is hard to keep up with all of them. John Matthew was strangely missing in this story (Like Rehv was missing from Xhex’s story). I am also tired of Layla. She is a whiner! Ward has been building her up for several books now. On with it, I say.

Lover Reborn

Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward

Next in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is the very sizzling story of Tohr and Autumn. The only frustrating thing for me was that dead people/vampires are always coming back to life in this series. So why couldn’t Wellsie??

Once again, there are many side stories being developed. I am anxiously awaiting the story of Layla and XCor.

First book in this series is Dark Lover. Check it out!

Lover Unleashed

Lover Unleashed by J.R. Ward

My vampire groupie days continue…this is the next installment in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I’m still digging these vampires. In this story, Payne finds her mate. I did enjoy Payne’s story, but the best thing about this one was that Vishious got more of his own story. As I mentioned before, I felt his story wasn’t given justice, so Ward makes up for that here.

On to the next!

Lover Mine

Lover Mine by J.R. Ward

Still intrigued by the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This installment tells John Matthew's story...and I loved it. The connection between John Matthew and Xhex is real and raw. Their chemistry is sizzling!

One weird thing is that I had expected more of Rehvenge in this story. He was strangely absent. Especially at the end…I think he should have been there at the end! He and Xhex also have a very strong connection and it was really ignored.

Anxiously waiting for the next one to come up on my list!

Lover Avenged

Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward

Book seven of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and I still found it amazing. I love, love, love this series! This book told Rehvenge's story and I was emotionally reeled in, once again.

Book one is Dark Lover--if you like strongly emotional, slightly dark romantic-suspense you need to start this series immediately!

These books are seriously hampering my productivity...I need to take a sabbatical from work/life to read them all, preferably while sunning on a beach...
