Monday Recommendations

Monday Recommendation List

Random list of 10 books Monday! I have read and enjoyed each of these enough to flag for a potential personal library purchase.

Be bold and just choose randomly, stick to your normal genre...or step outside of your normal
reading zone and try something you usually wouldn’t. You can look up the descriptions at Amazon.com, or search my blog for old posts by entering the title in the little search box in the top left-hand corner and clicking the magnifying glass.

This week-- 10 recommendations (in no particular order):

  1. Secret Journeys by National Geographic (there are several versions!)
  2. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
  3. Bloom by Kelle Hampton
  4. Beyond Religion  by Dalai Lama XIV
  5. Deep Down True  by Juliette Fay
  6. On Love by Alain de Botton
  7. Rescue by Anita Shreve
  8. Promise Me by Nancy Brinker
  9. Even Silence Has An End by Ingrid Betancourt
  10. Not Without Hope  by Nick Schuyler

Rescue

Rescue by Anita Shreve

Shreve tells a story that is emotionally charged and poignant.

Peter is a paramedic. Sheila is an alcoholic, whose life is spiraling out of control. They meet when Sheila has an accident that should have killed her. Peter is intrigued by her and pursues her. Their relationship is tumultuous and Peter has to cut Sheila out of his life when she endangers the life of their daughter. Eighteen years later, Rowan, their daughter is struggling to find her way in the world.

A beautiful story about love and life. I can only imagine, with two little ones, the helpless feeling of watching them make mistakes and grow into their adulthood.
