Mary, Mary by James Patterson

This is the next installment of Patterson's Alex Cross series. Finally...I am enjoying this series again. The main issue for me has been Christine's character. In this book she gains back some of her previous traits. I still don't feel like she is quite right, though. It's hard to describe, but the characters in this series change in each book, like they are different characters...but still the supposed to be the same. I have heard that Patterson writes with different partners. Maybe that is the issue!


Anyway...good suspense in this one. I will continue the series.

London Bridges

London Bridges by James Patterson

So…every time I post about the next Alex Cross book I cannot decide if I should continue the series or stop. Patterson does just enough to keep me hooked.

London Bridges was good, but not great. I still feel like the characters have gotten lost somewhere.  I’m most likely going to read the next one, even though I think I should just stop!

Big Bad Wolf

Big Bad Wolf by James Patterson

I am still in the midst of the Alex Cross series. I loved the first few books, then I got discouraged, then I was back on board again. I would love a little more consistency! Usually I either like a series or I don't.

This particular installment was good, but not on par with the first books in the series. There were a lot of pieces that didn't make sense and the ending is super weird.

I'm still on the fence as to if I will continue this series. For now, I am on to the next.

Four Blind Mice

Four Blind Mice by James Patterson

I have been disappointed with the last few books in the Alex Cross series. With this one, I am back on board. Still not up to the quality of the first 3 books in the series, but getting better.

I was entertained by the plot, although I didn’t think it was suspenseful or wrapped up very well. I remain on the fence in regards to finishing out this series. We will see what the next one brings!

Violets Are Blue

Violets are Blue by James Patterson

I read a book in the middle of the Alex Cross series (can't remember which one!) and I liked it. That led me to start at the beginning. I loved the first several books. However, at this point I have become quite ambivalent. In fact, I'm on the edge of deserting the series all together. I will try at least one more...

This particular book continues into the strange realm the previous book jumped into. It feels like a totally new series, with drastically changed characters. I’m willing to give the next one a chance and see where it goes, but I was pretty disappointed in this one.

The Quickie

I could basically say to you…”Read every book by James Patterson.” I have yet to read one that I didn’t like.

I am still currently in the midst of the Alex Cross series, but another recommendation is “The Quickie.”

Sail

I  am a fan of James Patterson books, other than the Alex Cross series I am currently reading.

“Sail” is worth your time. This is the type of book you can read quickly, as it flows effortlessly. The plot is a bit far fetched but the Dunne family vacation, going terribly wrong, still held my attention.

This would be a good day at the beach/pool read!

Roses Are Red

I am still following the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. I recently finished “Roses Are Red.” I loved it, as I have all of the books in the series, but I had a few issues with character portrayals in this one. Some of the characters have been built up through several books and then this book seemed to minimize them and completely change them.

For the first time, this one had some inconsistencies and loose ends for me. Hoping the next one doesn’t continue in that thread.

Alex Cross Series

It’s only in the past several years that I have become interested in series. I used to be too impatient to follow the stories through in the proper order.

One series that I highly recommend is the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. The Alex Cross character is well-developed and each book naturally leads me to reading the next. These books are mystery/crime/thriller…somewhere in those genres. If you enjoy police fiction, this is a series to try. So far, I have not gotten bored with the plots as they are all original and not repeats of previous books.

Several of these titles have been made into movies. As always, the book is better than the movie!
