Someone to Watch Over Me

Someone to Watch Over Me by Judith McNaught

My rating (out of 5 stars):

3 stars—I liked it.

Goodreads.com Description:

“Leigh Kendall reveled in her stellar Broadway acting career and in her marriage to Logan Manning, scion of an old New York family. When her husband finds the perfect mountain property for their dream house, he decides to surprise Leigh with her first view of the site. Driving upstate on a winter's night, Leigh is run off the road in the midst of a blinding blizzard. When she awakes in the local hospital, seriously injured, the police inform her that her husband has mysteriously disappeared, and Leigh, although obviously distraught, becomes the focus of their suspicions. The more she discovers about her husband and his business affairs, the less she realizes she knew about Logan Manning. Now, Leigh is heading deeper and deeper into unknown territory... where friends and enemies are impossible to distinguish, and where the truth becomes the most terrifying.

My Thoughts

I like McNaught more when she is fully in the romance genre. This book felt foreign to her normal voice. It reminded me more of Danielle Steele-style--more of a drama/mystery with a little romance thrown in.

Overall, it was decent, but I didn’t love it.

Jack

Jack by Juliana Stone

My rating (out of 5 stars):

3 stars—I liked it.

Description from Goodreads.com:

“Jack Simon’s road to the White House has been a smooth one until a night with the notorious Donovan James becomes a roadblock he can’t escape. Suddenly he’s America’s number one story and it has nothing to do with politics. Jack’s tangled with this woman before and knows they’re no good together because the only thing they're good for is a four letter word…hurt. He should get on with his life and concentrate on his job. But that’s hard to do when the one thing standing in his way, is the one thing he wants the most…

Donovan James, international singing sensation, has made a living singing songs about heartache and pain, two things she grew up on. But it’s time to set down some roots and the only man she wants is a man she’s all wrong for. A man she’s never stopped loving—Jack Simon. They’d had it all once, until they didn’t. And yet she can’t help but wonder if a second shot together just might be the game changer she needs. Or if old secrets can still ruin the only man she’s ever loved…”

My Thoughts:

This is Stone’s follow-up to “Tucker.” I enjoy following this family. I like the charactes and they are easy reads to pass the time!

Offside

Offside by Juliana Stone

My rating (out of 5 stars):

3 stars—I liked it.

Goodreads.com Descriptions:

“When hockey phenom Billie-Jo Barker returns home and decides to play in the local Friday night hockey league, all hell breaks loose. Not because Billie's talent is in question, but because Billie is a woman. And though these are modern times, some of the local guys still have a problem letting a girl into their 'men's club.'

Soon, Billie is at the center of a small town battle of the sexes, with everyone choosing sides. Her sisters. The townsfolk. Her friends. And yet, the only person whose opinion she cares about doesn't seem to care much at all. Logan Forest, the man who broke her heart when she was eighteen and the man she now shares the bench with every Friday night.

She's got a lot to prove and though Billie Jo Barker scores on the ice, will this girl ever score with the man of her dreams?”

My Thoughts:

I was mixed on this one. I have really enjoyed some of Juliana Stone’s books. This one was decent, but the names were super annoying! Billie Jo, Bobbi Jo, Betty Jo...I was getting confused! And the characters were a little off for me. Not as genuine as I like.

Deep

Deep by Kylie Scott

My rating (out of 5 stars):

4 stars—I really liked it.

Description from Goodreads.com:

“Positive. With two little lines on a pregnancy test, everything in Lizzy Rollins' ordinary life is about to change forever. And all because of one big mistake in Vegas with Ben Nicholson, the irresistibly sexy bass player for Stage Dive. So what if Ben's the only man she's ever met who can make her feel completely safe, cherished, and out of control with desire at the same time? Lizzy knows the gorgeous rock star isn't looking for anything more permanent than a good time, no matter how much she wishes differently.

Ben knows Lizzy is off limits. Completely and utterly. She's his best friend's little sister now, and no matter how hot the chemistry is between them, no matter how sweet and sexy she is, he's not going to go there. But when Ben is forced to keep the one girl he's always had a weakness for out of trouble in Sin City, he quickly learns that what happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay there. Now he and Lizzie are connected in the deepest way possible... but will it lead to a connection of the heart?

My Thoughts:

This was the fourth installment of the Stage Dive series. I have really enjoyed this series and am excited for what Scott is writing next. Her characters are always humorous while still being emotionally engaging and genuine. I enjoyed Lizzy and Ben’s story. Jimmy is still my favorite though!

The first book is “Lick” Check it out!
